Dreams come true...mixed media collage

The background was collaged with pages from an old play book, and covered with an acrylic wash. Then I altered a photograph of a doll face in Photoshop and made it look etched. I then overlaid it onto the background collage.

Aspirations collage

What would it be like to be queen of the dolls? Do all the little dolls and paper doll clothing aspire to to be queen?

Fashion collage

It's crunch time...I have a craft show tomorrow. Here is one new design that will be on prints and canvas at the show. It's a mix of things...the shape of an old dress pattern, a flier from a long-ago Paris event, music, and random shapes. For the pieces on canvas I printed this image onto lazertran, then transferred to the gessoed canvas using turpentine (ugh). It smells, but the resulting image is nice.

Another collage for Italy

As we are going to Italy this spring, my thoughts are obviously leaning that way. This collage started out as a digital altered image gone awry. I went over the parts I didn't like with pastel pencils and acrylic paints. Then rescanned. After that I layered the stamps, the statue and the italian words in Photoshop. I think it was a good exercise in not throwing away something that ultimately turns out useful.

Paris Collage

Worked on some acrylic art squared pieces today that didn't come out very good, but then tried a digital collage and that came out much better.

Cafe Press shop opened with new collages

mandolin collage Well I finally opened a shop at Cafe Press. I haven't figured out how to best categorize or sell my items on there, but it's an easy enough setup. I have a few of my collages on there now, available for purchase as framed tiles, tile boxes, cards, and other items, including this new one of my mandolin girl. I was thinking of doing a series of music collages -- inspired by the wonderful job my 2 kids are doing in their music lessons!

1942 Beach Trip Collage

This collage was inspired by a photo of my dad who was just a baby when this photo was taken. I painted an 8x10 canvas with acrylic paint, then scanned it in and added the other elements in Photoshop.

Christmas Collage - Christmas Past

This is another digital collage. While I do like it, I would like to re-create this as a mixed media collage. Tomorrow the acrylics come out!

Timmy in the boat collage

This is Timmy mixed in with some Rockport and New York photos I took. Guess I'm getting some of my Christmas presents done on time...I'll frame this one for a gift.

To Be -- a digital collage

This one's been kicking around the studio for a while without a proper background. It's my first attempt at using a nude photo. At first the kids kept saying, "Mom's got a naked picture." I kept telling them it was art. Then I overheard them telling someone else it was art. So then, it must be art!

Cutie Pie

I just had to do this one of my niece because she's so cute.

Christmas Collage

More collages coming with faces other than Aunt Mal's. However I really liked the way this one came out. I think I feel a series coming on! And, it was fun looking for old Christmas ephemera at the flea market!

The Gals Collage

Something to go with the Hat Girl Collage. I love the photo of the girls. It's my grandmother in the middle, somewhere around 1920ish.

Hat Girl Collage 1

So I guess the thing now is that I'm into faces. The face is of my Great Aunt Mal. It's a pigmented transfer collage -- 10" x 12" onto watercolor paper.
